IOCOD TECH Insider - Feb 2025

"From Linux 6.14’s AI-powered upgrades to Meta’s $65B AI push, plus the latest on LockBit ransomware and tech layoffs—get up to speed on this month’s biggest tech trends!"

From Linux getting smarter (and rustier—literally) to Meta throwing billions at AI, let’s break down what’s making waves this month!

Linux 6.14: Faster, Smarter, and More Secure

The latest Linux 6.14 RC has some serious firepower:

  • Rust Integration – Bye-bye memory bugs say hello to a more secure, modern kernel foundation.
  • AI-Powered Testing – No more chasing ghosts in the code. AI-driven testing helps catch bugs faster.
  • Hardware Support – Running on AMD Ryzen AI chips or Intel Clearwater Forest CPUs? Expect optimized performance and better efficiency.
  • Networking Boost – Faster, safer, and more robust connections with enhanced IPv6 support and upgraded IPsec encryption.

The stable release is expected by April 2025—so devs, time to put it through its paces!

Meta Bets $65B on AI Domination

Meta isn’t playing around—$60–65 billion is being funneled into AI expansion this year! Their goal? 1 billion Meta AI users by the end of 2025. With this investment, expect smarter AI-driven content moderation, chatbots, and enterprise tools—and maybe, just maybe, fewer weird algorithmic recommendations.

BP: -4,700 employees, -3,000 contractors
Stripe: -300 employees
Meta: Performance-based cuts
Starbucks: Layoffs by March 2025
