The venue

Sports is a great unifying force that erases boundaries and brings people together. And this is exactly what CAFIT’s (Calicut Forum for IT) cricket tournament CPL (CAFIT Premier League) aims at. CPL is an attempt by CAFIT to promote healthy competition and build camaraderie among the IT professionals of the region. For those who are unaware, the largest IT cricket tournament of Malabar is happening at Calicut beach this weekend. 50 teams representing IT firms from Govt. Cyberpark, UL Cyberpark, and Kinfra will be participating in this three-day-long event. This is the Vth and largest season of the tournament (Calicut Premier League) with 38 men’s teams and 12 women’s teams coming to show off their sporting talents. Team iocod will also be participating in this mega event. The event promises to be a thrilling experience for both the players and the audience. To add a fun element to the matches and to make it a public event open to all, Calicut beach was chosen as the venue. The matches will take place in a specially cordoned-off area of Calicut beach. In line with the practices of beach cricket, players will be using medium-soft balls. The initial matches will be played for 6 overs and the semi-finals and finals for 8 overs.

With 50 teams and 500+ participants, CPL is a great platform for IT professionals to showcase their talents. However, that’s not all. CPL also puts forth the message of a healthy work-life balance among IT professionals. It gives them an opportunity to come out of their workstations and engage in a sport they love. The tournament also offers an excellent networking opportunity for IT professionals. They can bond with their peers (from other companies) which can lead to future collaborations and partnerships. The tournament is scheduled to take place in the evenings during the weekend to encourage friends and families to come together and enjoy the matches. Since the event is open to the public, the organizers are expecting a large turnout of spectators. CAFIT has taken all necessary measures to ensure that the program runs smoothly without any glitches. Apart from CAFIT’s efficient organizers, a team of experienced event organizers also will be involved in making this event a huge success. CPL is more than just a cricket tournament. It is a celebration of sportsmanship, healthy competition, and work-life balance. The choice of the venue and the schedule of the matches ensures that the tournament is an inclusive experience open to all cricket lovers.
